Sym-2008-10: Computational Mechanics of Materials
Public time: 2008-5-31
BICTAM Symposium on Computational Mechanics of Materials
1. Theme of the Conference
The enormous progress of computer-aided simulation methods in all areas of material sciences opened the new interdisciplinary specialty in Computational Materials Science that unites elements of material science, physics, information technology, mathematics and technical mechanics.
The objective of the International Symposium on Computational Mechanics of Materials is to present original and high level works from various areas of mechanics of materials.
The symposium is intended to cover progress on all aspects of the modeling and simulation of the mechanical behavior on different length scales. The scope of materials of interest ranges from industrial materials like metals, alloys, composites, to advanced materials under development and bio-materials.
The symposium shall also serve as a forum for in depth discussions among scientists and engineers, who are interested in experimental investigations and numerical modeling of deformations and damage of engineering materials. All relevant micro-mechanisms of plastic deformation, fracture, fatigue as well as synergistic effects of various deformation and damage mechanisms shall be dealt with.
2. Topics
Nano, micro and micromechanical modelling
Nonlocal damage modelling
Damage and fracture
Atomistic simulations
Cyclic loading and fatigue
Cyclic plasticity and crystal plasticity
Smart materials
Multi-scale material modelling
Multiphase materials
Foam materials
Engineering applications
3. Dates
The symposium is possibly to take place on October 7-9.
4. Number of Participants
About 15 German delegates and 13 Chinese delegates will be appointed representing both micro-mechanisms of plastic deformation, fracture, fatigue, and synergistic effects of various deformation and damage mechanisms points of view. They will give 30-minute oral presentations from their complementary standpoints, in such a way as to stimulate debate and arouse the active involvement of young teachers and students.
About another 30 foreign professors and students as well as about 30 domestic professors and students will be selected to audit all of the oral presentations and participate in academic discussions.
